Reclaimed wood is having a moment in interior design — and it's not hard to see why. The grain, the patina, the sense of history: it brings warmth to a space that new materials can't fake. Here are the ideas we see customers fall in love with most.
1. Accent walls
The single most popular use of reclaimed wood, and for good reason. A single wall of mixed-tone reclaimed planks turns a plain room into a focal point. Behind a bed, a sofa, or a TV, an accent wall reads as custom and intentional. Mix board widths and tones for depth, or keep it uniform for a cleaner, modern look.
2. Mantels and beams
A reclaimed-wood mantel is the natural centerpiece of a fireplace, and exposed (or faux) beams add architecture to an otherwise flat ceiling. Hand-hewn marks and old grain make these pieces feel like they've always been part of the house.

3. Ceilings
Don't forget the fifth wall. A plank or tongue-and-groove reclaimed-wood ceiling — in a living room, a porch, or a coffered detail — adds instant warmth overhead. It pairs beautifully with white walls and exposed beams.
4. Flooring
Reclaimed-wood flooring brings character underfoot that new floors take decades to earn. It's durable, distinctive, and a strong sustainability story for an eco-conscious remodel.
5. Live-edge furniture
A live-edge table, shelf, or countertop keeps the natural shape of the tree's edge — a single statement piece that anchors a dining room, office, or kitchen island. No two slabs are alike.
6. Doors and details
Reclaimed doors, floating shelves, butcher-block tops, and trim are the finishing touches that tie a reclaimed-wood interior together.
Making it work in your space
A few tips from the mill:
- Mix tones intentionally. Reclaimed wood varies board to board — lean into it rather than fighting for a perfect match.
- Pick the right finish. From flat to glazed, the finish changes the whole feel. Raw and rough-cut reads rustic; sanded and sealed reads refined.
- Cut to spec. The cleanest installs come from wood milled to the exact dimensions of your space.
